![]() Free Weight Loss PlanSo, you're searching for a free weight loss plan? Okay, but first, let's consider a few facts about where you are right now... Have you failed with diets in the past? Did all your exercise efforts come to naught? And are you back where you started - or maybe even a little heavier? If so, then this time you need to ask a little more of your free weight loss plan. Customisation - the name of the gameOf course, it's not MY weight loss plan that you need, if you think about it... What's required is a weight loss plan that is right for YOU. Not me... not Oprah... not Nicole Richie... not whoever... It must be right for YOU. So, does that mean a free weight loss plan can't be worth the paper it's printed on? That depends on a number of things...
Let's look at those requirements in more detail: PerseveranceIt's obvious that, if you can't stick with a weight loss plan, it won't work. Results come only with a combination of the right plan and the passage of time. So, it is important to have a good free weight loss plan, or another depressing failure is on the cards. GoalsWhat did you have in mind when you decided to search for a free weight loss plan? Is there a dress size or pants size you'd like to fit into? A special event that you would like to get in shape for? Or do you think that your weight threatens your health? Or even your state of mind? In other words, is there a time frame here that might put pressure on you to 'overdo' things? Because, most people quit a weight loss campaign through disappointment. That is usually caused by not obtaining the results they wanted within a short amount of time. Which is why this next item is so important... RealismMore diets fail due to a lack of realism than people would like to admit. Unfortunately, despite the fact that we accumulate our weight problems over a considerable time, we all want to have a fix in place as quickly as possible.... Sometimes, even faster! This encourages the notion that weight loss - any weight loss - is good. (Which is not the case, as we'll consider later). The whole point about a free weight loss plan is that it should be successful - in the long term! That's why the word 'plan' is the operative one, here. And a plan needs to have a chance of success, otherwise it's not worth starting to follow it. If you think to yourself "Okay, I weigh 250 pounds (or whatever it may be) now, and I'd like to get down to 170 pounds (or whatever) then I'd be happy", that's not a good way to start. Why? Because it means your plan is founded on a guess. You're guessing that you'll be happy at 170 pounds. Many people could tell you (from bitter experience) that this is the sure way to disappointment - and eventual failure. Whenever they'd reach their weight loss target, they'd find that they still didn't like the way they looked. And the resulting disappointment usually made them quit the plan (such as it was) whereupon they would gain weight like crazy and end up worse off than when they started. That sounds like a good thing to avoid, right? But, how? Focus... the basis of any worthwhile free weight loss plan Aim for the right thing and you're likely to hit it. Aim for the wrong thing and... I'm sure you can guess. So, let's take an imaginary 250-pound person (we'll make him a male). What would be a good reduction target if he started a free weight loss plan? Let's assume he has been measured at 40% body fat. So, 100 pounds of that 250 is fat. For a man, 20% body fat would be a healthy target, so let's aim for that. It would mean shedding 50 pounds (of body fat), so he'd then weigh 200 pounds (not 170, as he'd guessed). But, he'd look and feel much better. And the bonus is, he'd know exactly what his target was, so he could plan how to get there. But say our example subject was female; what then? A body fat measurement of 28% would be nicely healthy (not lean, you'll note, but healthy). So how does that work out? If our example lady is also 40% fat (just to keep things simple) then she needs to reduce her body fat by 12% to reach her target. So she'd need to lose 30 pounds. Since women naturally carry less muscle and more body fat than men, her target is a bit easier than our man's in these examples. So now she knows what to aim at and just needs to take the time formulate a free weight loss plan that would suit her own circumstances. Which she (and you) can discover in our series of weight loss articles... Return from Free Weight Loss Plan to WLJ Home Page |
