Rapid Weight Loss

Rapid weight loss, speedy weight loss, fast weight loss...

Everyone's searching for how to achieve it. But ask yourself this: If there was a foolproof method, wouldn't everyone be using it? And wouldn't almost everyone you know be thin?

So, look around you. Is it really possible that there's a secret formula you haven't yet discovered.

Or is it more likely that it's just wishful thinking induced in you by unscrupulous advertisers who are merely after your money?

Here's a fact to ponder...

If you lose weight rapidly, most of that loss is water. Guess what happens when you rehydrate? You bet: all that 'weight' goes straight back on.

So what's the answer?

My suggestion would be to ignore all the hype and consider instead what you're trying to achieve.

What's Weight Loss Anyway?

If, when you looked in the mirror next time, you liked what you saw, would you care what you weighed? Probably not. If you look good, you feel good. Makes sense, doesn't it?

If, on the other hand, you lost 20 or 30 pounds over the next few weeks, but the mirror told you that you looked tired, dispirited and (still) overweight or even flabby, why would that make you happy.

What you need isn't rapid weight loss

Your aim should be to shed body fat, to reveal the slimmer, fitter, more functional you that's locked inside an overweight outer shell.

Ask yourself this:

If you shed 30 pounds of body fat and put on 25 pounds of muscle, would you look

a) better?
b) worse?

(The smart answer is a).

Think about the reasons for that. You would have less fat hanging around your body. You'd have more muscle to help you carry the fat you still have. You'd be shapelier. Not necessarily in your best shape, but better than at present. Yet you'd only weigh 5 pounds less than you do now!

Here's another teaser:

Is it really 'rapid weight loss' if you lose 20, 30 or 50 pounds only to regain it a few months down the line?

Wouldn't it be more 'rapid' if you lost body fat over a number of months AND kept it off for good?

The first way might seem to offer a quicker route, but you won't think that in a year's time when you're planning your next rapid weight loss attempt.

Okay, smart-ass, I hear you mutter, how do I manage to lose body fat and keep it off?

And the answer, I'd reply, is to choose a fat loss program that you can customise to suit you. Not your best friend, not Oprah, not Madonna, not Jane Fonda... you!

Is it difficult? Not really. I did it, and I'd failed plenty of times before, so I think I have no more willpower or insightful knowledge than the next man (or woman).

Rapid weight loss (or any other kind of weight loss) must have three ingredients if it is to be successful in the long term...

Calorie control Exercise control Perseverance

When yet another diet crumbles and leaves you torn up and regretful, it's because one of those three ingredients was not present. And there are reasons for that.

Most would-be slimmers want immediate results (what else does rapid weight loss mean?). That might be only human nature, but it's not realistic. Of course, it's a tempting enough aim to make many people pay lots of money to those unscrupulous advertisers I mentioned earlier. But you didn't gain all your weight overnight, and it won't disappear that quickly either, no matter how many pills you pop or crazy eating plans you follow.

Most would-be slimmers are impatient enough to want to start now. So they don't consider what they are trying to do, they just choose a date and start dieting, or buy some pill or supplement, or join a gym and start exhausting their bodies...

Most would-be slimmers allow themselves to be convinced, against their better judgement, by some slick advertising. After all, how would you feel if you dismissed the latest fad, only to discover months later that it really was the ultimate answer to rapid weight loss?

And so it goes: a succession of hopeful dieting ventures that slip quickly or gradually into yet another weight loss failure.

Okay, what's realistic? you ask. What should I be aiming for?

And the answer is a weight loss (fat loss) program that will give enough feedback to keep you encouraged and on track. That won't let you build up cravings that will inevitably ruin your plans. That won't require you to change yourself from fairly inactive to Olympic athlete exercise status in a couple of weeks. (Believe me, I was very active for many years, but I remained overweight, though rather fit).

What you need is a program that shows you how to eat properly, how to exercise the minimum amount necessary for effective fat loss, and how to ensure that your plans don't fall by the wayside yet again.

Sounds like a tall order? Not at all, and here's why.

Human beings are amazing. If we allowed ourselves en masse to use even a quarter of our communal potential, we could solve all the world's problems and then some! So guess how much of your untapped potential it takes to fashion a successful weight loss program? Hardly a thimbleful!

You already have the means of your success, and it's sitting right between your ears. Start your weight loss in the right manner and you can't fail.

Conversely, choose the lazy way and plump for some celebrity-endorsed fad diet and you virtually can't succeed.

Rapid weight loss means effective, 'stays-off' weight loss, and you can find out how to achieve this all by yourself with my guaranteed simple program, Fat Loss for the Rest of Us (FL4RU).

The only thing stopping you from losing weight is that mouse-clicking finger, so use it now.

You can learn more about how to find a weight loss program that's customised to suit you on the FL4RU page.
